DaBaby’s back: Rapper returns to the stage in Miami after Rolling Loud controversy
You want to see a game, but your partner prefers a concert.
This weekend, you’re in luck. Because sports and music collide at the three day Music Lives: Ballerfest, at Bayfront Park in downtown Miami.
The festivities brought to us from livestreaming platform LiveXLive, will kick off at 9 a.m. Friday with the Fiba 3 x 3 AmeriCup. Among the celebrity participants: boxer Floyd Mayweather, musician Chris Staples and basketball player Alan Palesano (White Iverson).
Later that night, DaBaby will make his return to the 305 after making headlines for homophobic comments at Rolling Loud at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.
During the July 25 set, the Cleveland born entertainer stunned the crowd by telling them to light up their cell phones “if you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that’ll make you die in two to three weeks.”
Here’s to hoping DaBaby (who was forced to apologize after losing subsequent gigs) does better.
“Everyone deserves a second chance and a growth opportunity,” a festival spokesperson told the Miami Herald. “While we don’t condone what he said and vehemently stand by equality for all, we want to support his progress to grow, evolve, and educate himself.”
Seems all is forgiven. DaBaby actually returned to the Rolling Loud stage late last month in New York last week as a guest of 50 Cent.
