The first full-scale, social distance-minded car concert is coming to South Florida this weekend.

The 1/ST Preakness At Home’s Drive-In FieldFest, which takes place May 16 at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, will be set up to accommodate 200 first responders. The star of the show, fittingly, is the DJ behind #ClubQuarantine, D-Nice, who has been livestreaming sets during Miami’s coronavirus quarantine on his Instagram account.

They must be good. He’s got more than two million followers.

Know this, though: You can only attend the concert in person if you’re a first responder and only if you’re in your car. Seriously, don’t show up like those fans who gathered in downtown Miami for David Guetta’s set. You won’t get in. And thanks to the miracle of YouTube, you don’t need to get in. You can watch the set in the comfort of — where else? — your home at www.1stlivepresents.com.

InfieldFest, the full-day music festival tradition of the annual Preakness Stakes, has featured such performers as Post Malone, Bruno Mars, Kygo, Maroon 5, Sam Hunt and The Chainsmokers. The Preakness, usually held on the third Saturday in May, was postponed this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“The coronavirus pandemic has immediately changed the world of live entertainment as we know it,” said Jimmy Vargas, managing parter of 1/ST Live, in a press release. “It has also highlighted the power of music as a uniting force. No one has taken the lead in streaming live music during this pandemic more than D-Nice and we saw an opportunity to share his talent, creative spirit and authenticity with both first responders and fans.”

The set will transmit live via guests’ car radios. Budweiser Zero will provide beverages, and Drunken Dragon will provide bites to the first responders. Viewers can also donate to them via a YouTube link.

Shops and restaurants at Gulfstream Park Village reopen May 18, but the casino and race track are still closed to the public.
