The Barstool Sports guy just almost got ‘murdered’ in South Beach. The pizza was good, though

We are not diehard fans of Barstool Sports’ founder Dave Portnoy, but we certainly don’t want anything untoward to happen to him.

While doing a pizza review outside Blocks Pizza Deli at 1447 Washington Avenue in Miami Beach on Monday, Portnoy was in the middle of his usual one-bite shtick when a straggly looking man walked by and said something to the effect of, “Feed it to a crack addict.”

Portnoy looked honestly floored as the man had no arms and was pulling a wheeled suitcase hooked under a shirt sleeve.

“I rarely get left speechless,” said the much maligned sports blogger to his cameraman Frankie. “I was left speechless by that guy.”

The man in question is Johnathan Crenshaw, a local, armless artist who paints with his feet and has a criminal past. Most recently, in 2018, the homeless man was arrested for stabbing a tourist with scissors clutched in between his toes.

“Damn. I had no idea my life was in danger earlier today,” wrote Portnoy in his blog later. “Like I knew he wasn’t just your run of the mill crackhead, but I had no idea he was a famous street artist who once stabbed a tourist with a pair of scissors with his feet. I mean that could have been me on the business end of those feet. Just another reminder to never take life for granted. Seriously without even knowing it today I almost got murdered by an armless crackhead.”

A least the pizza was good. Portnoy gave Blocks a solid 8 score.

We’re not sure if he’ll be back to Washington Avenue, though.

“Frankie, we may get some weird cats on South Beach if we do pizza reviews on this street,” said the Massachusetts native. “The cast of characters are wide, diverse and [bleeping] loco!”

Speaking of loco happenings, Portnoy and friends will be hosting The Barstool Party Rough N’ Rowdy Super Brawl II Friday night at the RC Cola Plant, 550 NW 24th St., in Wynwood starting at 9 p.m. A so called Barstool Blackout Party continues after the “marquee amateur boxing show” starting at midnight.

“Local fighters from all over Florida and ring girls from everywhere will be partaking in Rough N’ Rowdy with main event champions battling in the ring for three rounds,” reads the release.

We are sure we will hear all about it on Dave’s blog the next day ; press is not invited.
