Aventura has one of the country’s best new attractions, according to USA Today
Everybody loves a water park.
And apparently everybody really loves Tidal Cove Waterpark: it was voted one of the top 10 new attractions in the country in the USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice 2020 Travel Awards. It was the only Florida attraction to make the list.
The water park at the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa, which opened in 2019, features a 60-foot tower with seven water slides, including the scary Aqua Drop, which will test your nerve (or at least, our nerves). There’s also a 4,000-square-foot kids’ pool with a big play structure and a FlowRider Triple surf simulation pool. For a tamer experience, guests can also float down a Lazy River through tropical Florida foliage.
There’s also a nice VIP, adults-only pool located near the slides, so it won’t be quite as quiet as you might hope, plus two restaurants.
Tidal Cove was no. 7 on the top 10 list. The best new attraction, according to the voting, is the Springfield History Museum on the Square in Springfield, Missouri. We are not sure why. It’s got lots of Route 66 memorabilia but as far as we can tell no adults-only area and definitely no Aqua Drop.
The rest of the top 10 are the American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog in New York; The Hunger Games: The Exhibition in Las Vegas; Allianz Field in St. Paul; J. Rieger & Co. in Kansas City, Mo.; SoundWaves at Gaylord Opryland in Nashville; Otherworld in Columbus, Ohio; ArtsWorcester in Worchester, Massachusetts; and Chuck Williams Culinary Arts Museum in Napa, California.
The nominees were chosen by editors from USA TODAY and as well as other contributors; readers did the rest.
