Coast Guard saves a furry friend tiredly swimming along Florida coast

A furry friend was rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard after he somehow swam out to sea. This “star” had rescuers smiling from ear to ear.

On Wednesday, a Coast Guard night patrol was in open water when it got a call about a dog swimming off Fort Myers Beach that needed help.

Rescuers rushed to the water to search for the pup in need. In a video posted to Facebook, they find the dog paddling away. They pull up alongside the dog and lift it out of the water.

As the rescuers take turns patting the bedraggled dog, one says, “You’re the best person I’ve ever rescued.”

The Coast Guard said they returned the dog to shore where he was reunited with his family.
