A Whole Foods sauce got recalled. What’s not on the label creates an allergy problem

One lot of Whole Foods Market’s Vodka Sauce has been recalled from 12 states for a food allergy problem created by a faulty back label.

According to the FDA-posted recall notice, a customer noticed that his 16-ounce plastic tub with UPC code No. 853594006084 from Lot No. 20057 didn’t have the correct ingredients or allergens. The missing allergen: milk.

That’s not a problem if you don’t have a milk allergy or are not serving someone with a milk allergy. If you are in either classification, however, it’s a serious, possibly fatal, problem.

The recalled 16-ounce tubs were sold on or after March 2 in Florida, New York, New Jersey, California, Arizona, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. If you have the recalled sauce and wish to return it, you can do so at the place of purchase for a full refund.
