Even more packaged, ready-to-eat sandwiches recalled for possible listeria problems
In an expansion of a recall from last week, eight ready-to-eat sandwiches from the Premo and Fresh Grab brands have been recalled in 11 states, including Florida, after listeria was found in a manufacturing facility.
Lipari Foods’ FDA-posted recall notice says the expansion covers Fresh Grab’s Breakfast Muffin; Chicken & Swiss; and Turkey & Swiss sandwiches and Premo’s Meat Lover’s Sub; Pub Burger; Turkey & Cheese on Pretzel Sub; Turkey & Swiss; Turkey & Garlic Mayo sandwiches. All are lot No. 03202001.
The sandwiches went to food service and stores in Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Consumers with the sandwiches should toss them or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
In the original recall notice, Lipari said JLM Manufacturing contacted Lipari after listeria was found in an environmental sampling.
Customers with questions can call Lipari at 800-729-3354, Monday through Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern time.
Listeria hits 1,600 Americans a year, bringing fever, headache, stomachache, diarrhea and nausea. About 250 Americans die from listeria annually. Children under 5, senior citizens and those with damaged immune systems suffer the worst effects. Pregnant women can suffer miscarriages and stillbirths.
