Chihuahua's One ‘Miracle Puppy' Means the World to Her
Having one puppy is pretty rare: even a lot of beginner litters start with two. While there's nothing wrong with having just one, it greatly increases the likelihood of you ending up keeping both of them together forever.
For one Chihuahua's family, that looks like exactly what's about to happen. She recently gave birth to just one sweet little puppy, and their relationship proves she thinks her baby was a total miracle:

Megan Campion's Chihuahua had her miracle puppy with the family's other Chihuahua, Cooper. Not to worry, she'll be getting spayed as soon as it's safe to do so, but they're definitely keeping the puppy. It's a boy!
Mama's name is Minnie, and they named the puppy Reggie. They all live in Dublin, Ireland, and luckily, they're a very happy family! Reggie was a happy accident, and her mom made sure she had the safest and healthiest pregnancy possible. Now, Reggie is having a ton of fun!

There's one main thing I love about Chihuahuas: their huge ears. Chihuahuas get a bad wrap for being aggressive "ankle-biters," but the truth is, they're total sweeties! Reggie in particular is already a very handsome boy:

His ears are bigger than his head! That's exactly what I want to see when it comes to a Chihuahua. It just doesn't get cuter than a little puppy with big ears.
Are Singleton Puppies Common for Chihuahuas?
Chihuahuas are small dogs, and small dogs usually have smaller litters than larger ones. There's only so much space for those babies to grow!
Chihuahuas usually have anywhere from 1-3 puppies per litter, though 2 is about average. Single puppies can and do happen for Chihuahuas, especially if:
- They're a smaller dog.
- This is their first time being pregnant.
- They're younger.
Singleton puppies have their own problems: since they don't have siblings, they may not grow up to be as social as other puppies. Making sure they have opportunities to socialize with other dogs will be extra important for them. Luckily, Reggie will stay with his parents forever!
