Nancy Guthrie Update: Expert Issues Major Challenge to FBI, Sheriff - Answer These Questions

A top expert has issued a challenge to the FBI and other law enforcement in the Nancy Guthrie missing person's case.

Jennifer Coffindaffer, a retired FBI agent who appears on NewsNation as a law and justice contributor, wrote a list of questions on her X page on June 18 that she would like answered and accused the FBI and law enforcement of "making no sense." Guthrie vanished from her Tucson home on February 1, and she hasn't been seen since. Publicly released evidence has reduced to a trickle, if that, and no suspects or motive are identified, at least not for public consumption.

The Expert Focused, in Part, on a Suspect Known as 'Porch Guy'

"Nancy Guthrie LE and the FBI are making no sense," Coffindafer wrote in the post. She then listed a series of questions that baffle her.

  • "Where is the enhanced photo of Porch guy. It exists. Why not share with the public for their help?"
  • "Billboards: Why is Nancy's face on them? Put Porch Guy's face & add Spanish if you want more of the public's help. Or do you know who porch Guy is?"
  • "Vehicles: Nothing on any traffic or Ring/Nest cams to distribute after 4 Months? Nothing. It is unfortunately possible."
  • "Finally, 0 searches since day 2? Why? What could it hurt?"

"No contact with Mexican authorities from the beginning-Remember. Either LE (law enforcement) knows who is responsible or the ball has been dropped. 25 years in the FBI tells me they must have an idea of who is behind this," she added. "If this is not the case, then let the public help. Release the enhanced photos. Change the billboards. Commence searching the desert."

Who Is Porch Guy?

'Porch Guy' refers to the photos previously released by the FBI of a masked, armed man who was captured on Guthrie's door cam video. He has never been identified, although the FBI did release a height estimate and assessed that the figure is a man.

The door cam videos are the most chilling and important evidence to be released in the case so far.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos previously revealed that authorities have ruled out Guthrie's children and their spouses as suspects in the case. Other than that, they have said little about any suspect, beyond releasing the door cam images. Law enforcement has stopped holding regular press briefings in the case.

"The FBI and Pima County Sheriff's Department have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie's home that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors - including the removal of recording devices," FBI Director Kash Patel wrote on X when the images were first released.

"The video was recovered from residual data located in backend systems. Working with our partners - as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie's front door the morning of her disappearance."
