Mike Myers Confirms Austin Powers 4 is in the Works After 20-Year Wait
Yeah baby, yeah!
Austin Powers fans may finally be getting the sequel they've waited more than two decades to see. During an appearance on Trevor Noah's World Cup Watch Party, Mike Myers was asked directly by a fan whether Austin Powers 4 would happen.
His answer was brief, but it was enough to send fans into a frenzy.
"Yes," Myers replied.
The actor didn't offer any additional details about the project, including when it could begin production or what the story might involve. Still, the simple confirmation marks the clearest indication yet that a fourth Austin Powers film is moving forward.
Fans Have Been Waiting More Than 20 Years
It's been over two decades since Austin Powers in Goldmember hit theaters in 2002.
The third installment followed 1997's Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery and 1999's Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, helping turn the franchise into one of the defining comedy series of its era.
Collectively, the films earned more than half a billion dollars (ten points if you read that with Dr. Evil's voice in your head) worldwide and became pop culture phenomena, spawning countless catchphrases, parodies, and imitators.
Despite years of speculation about a fourth movie, fans have largely been left with rumors and hopeful comments. Well, until now, that is.
Myers Has Long Been Interested in Returning
Myers has previously expressed interest in revisiting the franchise, though he often stopped short of confirming whether another film would actually happen. Over the years, he has suggested that a potential sequel could place greater emphasis on Dr. Evil, one of the franchise's most beloved characters.
Even longtime franchise director Jay Roach acknowledged that another film remained possible. Back in 2020, Roach said he would never completely rule out a fourth installment.
"I wouldn't say never, never," Roach told Deadline at the time, while noting that any sequel would ultimately depend on Myers finding the right creative idea.
Austin Powers Has Never Really Gone Away
While fans haven't seen a new movie since Goldmember, the franchise recently returned to the spotlight through a Verizon commercial featuring Myers alongside fellow Austin Powers stars Seth Green, Mindy Sterling, and Rob Lowe.
The commercial reignited interest in the series and prompted renewed questions about whether another film could finally be on the horizon.
Now, thanks to Myers' latest comments, fans appear to have their answer.
Details remain scarce, but after more than 20 years of waiting, Austin Powers is apparently preparing for another mission.
