Tay Keith's Cause of Death Probed as Police Make Major Announcement

The cause of death for Grammy-nominated record producer Tay Keith remains under investigation. However, Nashville police have made a major announcement: They don't believe that Keith fell victim to foul play.

"No foul play is suspected in the death of Brytavious Chambers, 29, also known as Grammy nominated record producer Tay Keith," Nashville Police wrote on June 18 in a statement on X. Police revealed that Keith was found dead in his apartment.

Keith did not have a known girlfriend or wife at the time of his death. "RIP Tay Keith. Most of my Fav. Music this decade is his production,"a fan wrote of Keith, who produced some of the biggest songs in hip-hop for some of the best-known artists.

"Tay Keith is arguably the greatest Memphis producer of all time… No disrespect to any of the other titans from our city but what he accomplished in his 20s to die at 29… Absolutely mind blowing. What a legend. Cant believe he's passed this soon," another fan wrote.

The Cause of Death for Tay Keith Is Listed as 'Unclassified' Until an Autopsy Is Conducted, Police Said

For now, Keith's death has been labeled unclassified.

"He was found dead in his Martin St apt this afternoon by officers performing a welfare check. His death is unclassified pending autopsy results," police added.

"His art outlived his physical body and as a fellow artist, I'm going to honor that tonight," a fan wrote on X.

Who Was Tay Keith?

Who was Tay Keith? According to NBC News, Keith "hailed from Tennessee and worked with music's biggest stars, including Beyoncé and Drake."

NBC News added that Keith's career "included four No. 1 records on the Billboard Hot 100, including Travis Scott's 2018 single Sicko Mode and Drake's 2023 hit First Person Shooter." He was a college student when he helped produce the Scott single, according to NBC News.

He ended up being nominated for a Grammy but still finished college. "For Brytavious 'Tay Keith' Chambers, and his accomplished team of MTSU students and grads including Nicholas Brownlow and Tyland Jackson, however, they saw the value of completing their degree at Middle Tennessee State University and stuck with it," wrote MTSU News.

"There wouldn't be any point for me to come to college if I didn't want to finish it – I could have just focused 100% on music. By my last week of college, I had my first number one single, so it didn't make any sense to drop out," Keith told the student publication.

Tay Keith Worked With Other Top Stars

According to TMZ, Keith "worked Keith "also played a key role in Sexyy Red's rise to stardom, producing her 2023 breakout hit Pound Town."

He also worked with "Eminem, Lil Nas X, and Jennifer Lopez," according to Entertainment Weekly.

Tributes flowed on social media for Keith. "He had mad talent," wrote a fan. People expressed shock and grief, with many commenting that he was "too young" and remarking on his talent.

His top post on Instagram was a tribute to his late mother that dates to 2021. More recent posts promoted his music career and showcased his cars.
