Tabernacle Choir organist's Orlando concert rescheduled for fall
Organizers of a planned Orlando concert by the principal organist of the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square must not be superstitious. Or they figure they have already had their share of bad luck.
Organist Richard Elliott’s scheduled April concert had to be canceled at the last minute when the organ he was to play suffered what the organizing group Friends of Music called a “catastrophic technical malfunction,” requiring replacement of its circuit boards. Elliott has been playing organ for what was formerly known as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir since 1991.
Now Friends of Music reports that Elliott will be able to return and perform his free concert this fall - on a Friday the 13th, no less. To be specific, Elliott’s concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at First United Methodist Church, 142 E. Jackson St. in Orlando. It will feature the church’s newly repaired organ.
Keep your fingers crossed.
