Alan Ritchson Is out for Revenge in 1970s Crime Thriller, 'Motor City'
Alan Ritchson knows a thing or two about playing roles in which his character is unjustly thrown behind bars. That's how ReacherSeason 1 started in 2022, and now, Ritchson is revisiting that concept for an explosive new 1970s crime thriller, Motor City. After finishing filming in 2024, IFC has confirmed a release date and dropped a trailer for the stylish new movie, which, reportedly, has almost no dialogue at all.
Here's the new trailer for Motor City, plus what to know about the cast, plot, and release date for this unique and fast-approaching movie.
Motor City Trailer and Surprising Style
Featuring almost no dialogue, the trailer for Motor City shows Ritchson and Shailene Woodley as John and Sophia, a happy, young couple in the 1970s. But suddenly, John is arrested for some kind of crime and thrown into prison. We then see Sophia with people who look like 1970s mobsters, and then John's journey from jail, and into a revenge story. Did Sophia betray him? Was he framed?
As reported by Collider in 2024, Ritchson's co-star Ben Foster claims the film only has "five lines of dialogue." The film has also been described as a "virtually silent, rock disco revenge movie."
The film is directed by Potsy Ponciroli, known for his explosive 2021 western, Old Henry. Motor Cityreportedly features music from Jack White.
