Health inspections shut down 2 Central Florida restaurants last week
The Department of Business and Professional Regulation shut down two Central Florida restaurants for health code violations during the week from April 26 to May 2.
Orange
China Lee at 2338 S. Kirkman Road in Orlando shut down on April 28. Inspectors found 32 violations, seven of which were high priorities. Those violations included an improperly stored container of medicine, an employee working with food without washing their hands, flying insects, roach activity and using utensils that weren’t properly sanitized. A second inspection occurred on April 29. There were 22 violations, four of which were high priorities. Those violations included roach activity, rodent activity, flying insects and a container of medicine that was improperly stored. The restaurant remained closed.
A third inspection occurred on April 30. There were 21 violations, three of which were high priorities. Those violations included rodent activity, roach activity and the same container of improperly stored medicine. The restaurant required a follow-up inspection but wasn’t considered a threat to the public. A fourth and final inspection was conducted on May 1. There were 18 violations, only one of which remained logged for the improperly stored medicine. The restaurant met inspection standards.
Volusia
Checkers #6322 at 133 S. Woodland Blvd. in DeLand shut down on April 29. Inspectors found six violations, two of which were high priorities for sewage water backing up in the floor drains and a stop-sale on food due to it not being in a wholesome condition. A second inspection occurred the same day. There were three violations, none of which was a high priority. The restaurant met inspection standards.
Total Inspections
Among all inspections across Central Florida, there were 2,885 violations total, including basic, intermediate and high violations.
Orange County had the most with 1,198, followed by Volusia with 518, Lake with 509, Brevard with 313, Seminole with 196 and Osceola with 151.
