Golden Retriever Thinks UPS Truck Means Her Favorite Retired Driver Is Back
It's no secret that dogs make their own rules when it comes to choosing the people they deem worthy of their time and attention. These "favorites" get their status from being a regular presence in your dog's life-probably also giving a few treats-so these interactions are something your pup looks forward to and even anticipates.
Golden RetrieverAbbey had this very experience with her favorite UPS driver, Ed. Unfortunately, Ed retired early, leaving Abbey searching for him in every UPS truck she sees.
@abbeysgoldenlife Kudos to Ron with UPS, who did his best to console Abbey when she realized Ed wasn't in the truck. #ups#whereised#dontforgetaboutme

Since this UPS driver is the new guy, we can only hope he catches on and gives Abbey what she's looking for. He may not be Ed, but if he has yummy treats, I'm sure she'll allow him to be part of her day the way she did with Ed. The sweet Golden Retriever may need a little time to adjust, but I have a feeling that this person, or whoever ends up on her route, will do what we need them to do-for the sake of Abbey's big and tender heart, and ours!

As with any sweet dog story, Abbey is winning everyone over with her dedication to Ed. Thanks to the power of social media, Ed and Abbey reunited in the most heartwarming surprise ever!
You can tell from Abbey's reaction that this bond goes so much deeper than seeing a UPS driver on a route. This is love.
@abbeysgoldenlife Thank you for the surprise visit, Ed! We're forever grateful for this moment… and for everyone who helped make it happen #everydayheros#abbeysgoldenlife#upsdrivers#lovewins

Why Dogs Form Strong Bonds With Familiar Delivery Drivers
Whoever comes into a dog's life on a consistent basis and offers positive experiences repeatedly may unintentionally condition that pup for regular interactions just like this. They learn that person's voice and scent, and in Ed's case, his truck.
What began as Abbey curiously investigating a delivery driver in her territory ended with her trusting this man. His presence was part of the pup's routine, and because she got attention and treats out of it, of course, she decided Ed was her favorite and worth waiting for each and every day.
Abbey is yet another example of why we don't deserve dogs, even a little bit. Hopefully she and Ed have more reunions to come (and the new driver is just as awesome)!
