Nancy Guthrie Update: Ex-FBI Agent Dispels 'Absurd' Tommaso Cioni Narrative

Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today host Savannah Guthrie, remains missing months after she disappeared from her home in the Catalina Foothills of Tucson, AZ.

As the search for her alleged abductor continues, the public has been locked in on Tomasso Cioni as a possible suspect, despite the Pima County Sheriff's Department clearing both he and wife, Annie, Guthrie's daughter, in the case.

"The family has been nothing but cooperative and gracious and are victims in this case," a statement from Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said in a statement shared via X in mid-February. " ... To suggest otherwise is not only wrong, it is cruel. The Guthrie family are victims plain and simple."

Former FBI Agent Doesn't Believe Tomasso Cioni Suspect Narrative

Former FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer, who has been following the case since the beginning, posted a new video talking about the case and the possibility that Cioni could be the suspect.

Coffindaffer ran down the list of how involved Cioni is in the community from his teaching background to his wife's jewelry business suggesting "these people were entrenched and loved in Tuscon," as a reason they're not involved in Guthrie's disappearance.

She did, however, admit that he bears a resemblance to the alleged suspect, which is why she believes the public has locked on to Cioni.

"Tommaso looks the part. I swear to goodness, I think that that is a big reason why people just want to blame Tommaso," she said. "Some people might think he looks really handsome, like his wife, Annie. And some people might think he looks ominous. He has an ominous look about him."

She also addressed the idea that Cioni is "Porch Guy", whom she has dubbed the alleged suspect and masked individual caught on camera entering Guthrie's home.

"It's so absurd to me. But nevertheless, people want to say that that's a fact-that he's Porch Guy," she shared. " ... There is no physical corroboration when you look at porch guy's face that we can see, when you look at porch guy's mannerisms, when you look at how he walks compared to Tommaso. There's nothing there, everyone, there's just noting there to compare."

"People want to say that he is involved because, and literally this is all they have, because he was the last to see Nancy," she continued. "Well, let's be clear. He was not the last to see Nancy...No, porch guy, minimally, and others were the last to see Nancy alive."

Coffindaffer believes the suspect is "much younger" than Cioni, who is believed to be in his early 50's.
