Tonight's organ concert with Richard Elliott canceled
Tonight’s free concert by Richard Elliott, principal organist of the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square in Salt Lake City, has been canceled.
Friends of Music, the group that organized the concert at First United Methodist Church in downtown Orlando, said Friday that the organ has suffered a catastrophic technical malfunction and that its circuit boards will need to be repaired - a process that could take several weeks.
As principal organist of the Tabernacle Choir - the word “Mormon” was dropped from the name to better align with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Elliott plays one of the world’s most famous organs. He also tours with the famed choir and performs solo concerts.
In its message announcing the cancellation, Friends of Music said it hoped to reschedule his Orlando appearance for a future date.
