Becoming a pet parent can be one of life's greatest joys, though it comes with unspoken challenges. One is facing the likelihood that we'll outlive our beloved fur babies. Since time is out of our control, it's our responsibility to care for our pet family members until their final moments.

Recently, the humans behind @fourpupsandakitty on TikTok faced this situation as they had to say goodbye to their terminally ill cat. For their final farewell, they had the sweetest beach day with their kitty, and the video of this cat's last day will have you bawling your eyes out. You've been warned!

@fourpupsandakitty

We feel so grateful to our vet for letting us rush him to the beach before we said goodbye. We are sad but so filled with love and gratitude for having 5 years of full remission with him - what a privilege to love and care for an immunocompromised cat Thank you so much to the oncology staff at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital #fivfelv#fivcat#felv#catlymphoma

In the post caption, @fourpupsandakitty shared how it came about, explaining, "Our vet let us know our cat was not recovering from lymphoma, and it was his time to go. We asked if we could take him to the beach for his first and last time, and he absolutely loved it. It was perfect weather and nobody [was] at the beach. What a beautiful sendoff…"

Forget the age-old stereotype about cats hating water. Clearly, this kitty wasn't afraid of the ocean. He was happy to lie out in the sand as the waves came rolling in. At one point, he even moved closer to the water, and for some cat parents, that's rare. Though when the wave did catch him, he was a little stunned. But his humans were there to help him out, and he enjoyed the peace found on the beach. That's what it was all about!
