Dog Thinks Nobody Is Home, Owner Not Prepared for What She Finds Him Doing
A dog's determination to make himself comfortable while his owner was working from home has left viewers in stitches after the moment was shared on social media.
Haley Austin, from Nashville, Tennessee, caught her 11‑year‑old dog Goose in the guest room with what she described as a "one‑track mind" when it came to comfort.
Goose, an American pit bull terrier who turns 12 in June, had taken it upon himself to thoroughly undo a neatly made bed.
"I work remotely, and typically Goose will bounce from his bed or daybed in my office, the living room couch or the guest room to clock in for a shift of what I call ‘neighborhood watch,'" Austin told Newsweek. "He watches people walk and cars drive by."
She said she wasn't surprised to find Goose in the guest room, but his silence immediately caught her attention.
"When I turned the corner and saw he clearly had a one‑track mind to make sure his comfort was maximized-even at the expense of a nicely made bed-I immediately started laughing," Austin said. "He's my whole world, so I can never get upset with him."
In the video that has been viewed more than 230,000 times on Instagram, Goose was enthusiastically burrowing into the bedding, pushing pillows aside and reshaping the bed to his liking, seemingly unfazed by being filmed. Text over the clip jokingly suggests he had "forgot mom was home" and was "still clueless a human‑sized fun sucker is filming me."
In the comments, people shared their reactions. "Adorable little stinker," said one commenter. While another wrote: "Our dog does this occasionally. We love finding her little nests, and we love watching her dig with her nose."
Austin said Goose has long held a grudge against decorative pillows and made beds. "Goose has a deep hatred for decorative pillows and a made bed," she said. "He's often found throughout the house removing pillows from ‘his' comfy spots."
Austin was thrilled with the reaction from viewers, many of whom were dog owners who could relate to the doggy redecoration and pets “unmaking” the bed during the day.
"The reaction from other dog lovers has been great," she said. "I truly love all dogs and get a kick out of folks sharing their own experience with their pups disliking a made bed, decorative pillows… It's been a nice little bright spot on the internet."
"I knew friends and family would get a laugh out of this video," Austin added. "Turns out, strangers do, too."
