Children’s toys that have broken at least 22 times recalled for being laceration hazards
Toy grocery carts usually aren’t thought of as dangerous to children. But that’s why three models of the Step 2 Little Helper’s children’s grocery shopping carts, 20,000 of them in the United States and Canada, have been recalled.
The problem, as stated in the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice: “The shopping cart’s basket can break into sharp pieces, posing a laceration hazard.”
Step 2 has heard about 22 reports of the basket breaking, but no injuries.
This covers model Nos. 700000, 708500 and 8567KL with date code combinations of 5 and 19, which can be found below the handle. Step 2 is offering replacement or sort-of refund (a $40 credit toward another Step 2 product on Step 2’s website).
Consumers can contact Step 2 on the company’s website or by calling 800-347-8372 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Eastern time.
