The Florida home where Serena and Venus grew up could be yours. There’s a hitch

Tennis fans. Here’s your chance to own a piece of history. Venus and Serena Williams’ childhood South Florida home is up for auction.

The Sun obtained exclusive pictures of the Palm Beach Gardens house where the then-budding tennis pros lived after moving to the Sunshine State from California to attend the Rick Macci Tennis Academy.

Dad Richard Williams bought the four bedroom, 10-acre spread at 12167 144th Place N. in 1995 for $355,000, according to Palm Beach property records. The house has two bathrooms and one half bathroom. Built in 1981, Williams added a tennis court to the residence in 1995 and the girls spent many hours training there.

The subject of the movie King Richard lost it in 2017 in his divorce from his third wife, Lakeisha Williams, and it has since gone into foreclosure, owing about $514,000, according to Palm Beach County foreclosure sales’ final judgment amount.

The hitch: This is a fixer-upper. The $1.1 million waterfront property is not in great shape.

The facade of the brick, Colonial-style single-family residence have fallen off and the paint has faded on the four white columns. Tall grass surrounds the tennis courts. In other words, despite Lakeisha gaining Homestead exemption, the house appears to be abandoned.

Get ready to bid it out for the residences. Besides the connection to tennis royalty, the residence may attract many bidders given rising demand for South Florida real estate. Residential prices continue to rise given low inventory and high demand.

Palm Beach County has 1.1 months of inventory of single-family homes and a median sales price of $525,000, up from $425,000 in December 2020, according to the latest sales report from the Miami Association of Realtors.

Still convinced the residence is for you? Get ready to bid soon. The auction takes place next week.
