Why I read poetry
As National Poetry Month and our own O, Miami festival begin, now is the perfect time to revel in all things poetic. But some of us love verse year-round.
I read poetry:
▪ Because poetry reveals the world to me in important and thrilling ways
▪ Because I grew up on Dr. Seuss
▪ Because inaugural poet Richard Blanco made me see Miami in a new light
▪ Because poems are not 600 pages long (take note, novelists)
▪ Because #HialeahHaikus make me laugh, bro
