The Magic City is honored at this year’s Smorgasburg Miami 305 Eats Day
The largest outdoor food market in Miami returns this weekend for 305 Eats Day, another festival in honor of the Magic City. Just last week, Detour highlighted Smorgasburg Miami as they held an amazing event in honor of Black History Month, and now it’s time to gather again for more great food and festivities.
In order to rep the 305 in the best way, Smorgasburg Miami is connecting with local Instagram food influencer/critic George Arango, better known as Mr. Eats 305. Whether you’re a native or just passing through Miami, he’s the guy you should follow on social media to find the best spots in town for a bite.
This weekend is loaded with fun-filled activities, entertainment, and live performances that will show you the very best of what Miami 305 has to offer. Smorgasburg will be decked out with tropical decor like pineapples, palm trees, and punky roosters to set the vibe. In case you didn’t know, the rooster is the national emblem of Cuba, and as such, you’ll find several of them throughout the market. Roosters are also seen as symbols of strength and power.
Now, let’s get into some specifics about the upcoming creative and enjoyable events. The neo-expressionist artist Andre Salas will be painting live on the back wall all day. To find out what surprise he has in store for 305 Eats Day, you’ll just have to stop by and watch him perform all the way through.
From 2-4 p.m., Smorgasburg Miami will hold a domino tournament in the Lounge, and both days’ winners will receive a $100 gift card to Smorgasburg. Visitors can register by heading over to Instagram and clicking the link in their bio.
Join Luca Colasuonno, a renowned dance instructor, choreographer and actor, for a salsa lesson at 4 p.m. to pick up some new moves or polish your existing ones. If that weren’t enough to keep you on your feet when the salsa class is over, Wizzmer & Quartet will be playing a set of funk-pop-jazz to keep you moving for even longer. They plan to end their concert with a conga line in homage to 305 culture.
Brittany Brave, the Miami New Times 2021 Best Comedian of the Year, will be hosting the evening’s final comedy show, “The Flavor of Funny,” at 6 p.m. Legends of Miami comedy like Cisco Duran, Eli Rodriguez, Freddy Stebbins, Pauley, and Oriel Rodriguez will also be performing.
Smorgasburg Miami vendors will be serving up inventive specialty dishes made with Miami-inspired ingredients, so be ready to satisfy your appetite. Multiple special guest vendors from the 305 area will join them for the weekend as well.
