Which Real Estate Course Is for You?

  • Pick Colibri if you want flexible pricing tiers, live Q&A webinars, and a solid Pass/Don’t Pay guarantee.
  • Choose AceableAgent if you learn best on the go and need a mobile-first, video-heavy experience.
  • Go with The CE Shop if you prefer text-based lessons with robust quiz banks and a clean interface.
  • Opt for Kaplan if you crave daily live classes, printed materials, and extended tutoring support.
  • Supplement with PrepAgent if you already have a pre-license course and need a targeted exam review.
  • Use CompuCram if you only need state and national practice exams with a straightforward pass-or-refund policy.

1. Colibri Real Estate: Best Overall

Colibri

Colibri Real Estate consistently stands out. They’ve been a leading real estate school for years and offer a variety of packages, allowing you to choose what fits your needs and budget. Further, Colibri offers the opportunity to learn through live-streamed Exam Crammer classes or on-demand classes. One of my favorite features was the instructor Q&A sessions, which happen online across 40+ hours every month. The instructors were outstanding: they really wanted to help, and everyone I connected with did a great job of breaking down the material in an easy-to-understand way (yes, even the math). And, the personalization of your study experience is exceptional, with the ability to choose your intensity and track your progress.

Colibri goal tracker

Their system is designed to guide you through the material efficiently, and I was pleasantly surprised by the volume of their study-aid library, which made it easier for me to reinforce trickier topics. They even have a partnership with industry leader Buffini & Company for career resources because while you need to pass the exam, you also need to build a full-time job from the ground up after. And, even with all these perks, the price is fairly comparable to that of competitors like The CE Shop and Kaplan. So, there is a lot to love about Colibri! The only minor gripe I had was that the course felt a bit too text-heavy at times—I had to break up long sessions because the on-demand material wasn’t as interactive as I’d hoped.

Course Features

  • Flexible Online Learning: Study anytime, anywhere, on your own schedule.
  • Instructor Support: You get access to instructors for questions via email and sometimes live Q&A sessions, especially with their higher-tier packages.
  • Digital Textbooks & Study Guides: Easy access to all your course content.
  • Practice Exams & Quizzes: Plenty of opportunities to test your knowledge with quizzes after each chapter and simulated exams.
  • “Pass or Don’t Pay” Guarantee: Most of their packages come with this assurance, giving you peace of mind.
  • CompuCram Exam Prep Integration: Their premium packages often include CompuCram’s exam prep course, which is a powerful tool for passing your state exam.
  • Career Resources: Access to Buffini & Company’s career materials can really help kickstart your real estate career.

Pros

  • Study When You Want: Colibri’s delivery flexibility ensures you can study and attend live classes during times that work for you and your schedule.
  • Unlimited Practice: Colibri offers unlimited simulated mock exams, using exam-quality practice questions that mirror the real thing.
  • Experienced Teachers: The instructors have over 40 years of experience in real estate, providing you with valuable, real-world advice on demand, live, and in Q&A sessions.
  • Study on Your Phone: Their online platform works great on your phone or tablet, so you can easily study from anywhere.
  • Help for Your Career: In your licensing package, Colibri offers coaching and resources to help you start strong and build a successful career in real estate.

Cons

  • Can Be Text-Heavy: The on-demand course content relies heavily on reading, which might not suit all learning styles.

Bottom Line

Colibri Real Estate offers a flexible, self-paced learning experience that’s well-suited for nearly any student starting their real estate journey in Missouri. With live classes and Q&A sessions, helpful exam prep tools, and practical resources for launching your career, it’s an excellent option for aspiring real estate professionals looking for support and structure along the way.

2. The CE Shop: Best for Interactive Learning & Career Jumpstart

CE Shop

The CE Shop is a fantastic option for anyone looking for an engaging and modern online real estate school in Missouri. One of my favorite features was the interactive content, a refreshing change from dense PDFs—it kept me engaged even after long workdays.

As someone on Reddit mentioned,
“The CE Shop was great for me when I was transitioning careers and needed to do a little bit of coursework here and there with my hectic work schedule… When I took the licensing exam, I was really stressed because I felt it was nothing like CE Shop’s practice exam, but I ended up passing with flying colors anyway because the material in the course did cover everything.”

CE Shop dashboard

What really stands out is their intuitive learning platform, Leap 2.0. I found it incredibly user-friendly, with progress tracking and interactive elements that keep you from just passively reading. I often logged in during short breaks between work, and the layout made it easy to pick up right where I left off.

CE Shop study material

They also offer valuable post-licensing tools to help you hit the ground running. Still, if your priority is career mentorship and coaching after licensing, Colibri might be a better fit, as the CE Shop doesn’t feature career-level resources as prominently.

Course Features

  • Interactive Course Content: Engaging videos, graphics, and exercises make learning dynamic.
  • “Leap 2.0” Platform: Modern, intuitive interface designed for easy navigation and tracking.
  • Exam Prep Edge: A robust exam prep course that uses adaptive learning to focus on your weak areas.
  • Business Building Courses: Some packages include courses on lead generation and marketing, which is a great jumpstart for a new career.
  • Digital Flashcards & Glossary: Essential tools for mastering real estate vocabulary.
  • National & State-Specific Practice Exams: Realistic practice tests to build confidence for the state exam.
  • Pass Guarantee: They offer a “money-back guarantee” if you don’t pass your real estate exam on the first try (check specific terms).

Pros

  • Engaging Content: The material is highly interactive, which helps keep studies engaging and breaks up long study hours.
  • Robust Exam Preparation: The “Exam Prep Edge” feature is a standout for providing effective practice tests and helping students improve their scores for the state exam.
  • Up-to-Date Course Content: The curriculum is regularly updated to ensure it reflects the most current state laws, regulations, and evolving industry practices, keeping your education relevant.
  • Extensive Practice Questions: Beyond the structured Exam Prep Edge, they provide a large bank of diverse practice questions to ensure thorough preparation for all topics and identify areas for improvement.
  • Comprehensive Learning Tools: They integrate various supplementary tools such as digital flashcards, a real estate glossary, and real-world scenarios to enhance understanding and retention.

Cons

  • Text-Heavy for Some: While interactive, the core content is still largely text-based, which might not suit purely visual learners who prefer more video-based instruction.
  • No Dedicated Mobile App: While their website is mobile-optimized and responsive, the absence of a mobile application might be a drawback for users who prefer a dedicated app experience.

Bottom Line

The CE Shop offers a modern, interactive experience that’s great for passing your Missouri real estate exam. I found their platform to be well-organized and easy to navigate, and their Exam Prep Edge tool was excellent for building confidence. If you want a flexible online option that also helps you prepare for a successful career, The CE Shop is a solid choice. One thing I wished for, though, was more video instruction—the reading-heavy approach wasn’t ideal during late-night study sessions.

3. Kaplan Real Estate Education: Best for Live Online Learning

Kaplan

Kaplan is a household name in professional education, and their real estate school offerings for Missouri are no exception. If you thrive in a structured learning environment and want access to expert instructors, Kaplan could be a good match.

Kaplan real estate practice

One Trustpilot review read,
“Kaplan’s live learning sessions have made the educational experience exceptional. The lead instructors from IL (Kim and Mike) made extra efforts to connect with me and ensure I was prepared for my exam.”

The frequent live sessions were motivating, and the structure and obligation made these classes ideal for procrastinators. Instructors were responsive, and it felt close to a real classroom environment (at least, as close as you can get to traditional in an online course). Further, Kaplan goes deep, covering every possible topic on the exam in the prep materials. While I personally felt overwhelmed at times, this is an excellent format for students who appreciate that added context.

Course Features

  • Live Online Learning Hub: Attend live, interactive classes led by experienced real estate professionals. This is great for asking questions in real-time.
  • QBank: A powerful tool with thousands of practice questions to help you prepare for the real estate exam. You can customize quizzes to focus on specific topics.
  • Study Groups: Opportunities to connect with other students and study together.
  • “Kaplan Commitment to Pass”: An extended pass guarantee that offers free retakes of your live online course if you don’t pass the state exam.
  • On-Demand Video Options: If live classes don’t fit your schedule, they also have self-paced video content.
  • Career Mentor Connect: Some packages include access to a career mentor, which can be invaluable for navigating your new career.

Pros

  • Excellent Live Instruction: Kaplan’s live online instructors provide expert instruction and effectively answer student questions in real-time.
  • Structured Learning Environment: If you benefit from deadlines and a set schedule to stay motivated, their live online options provide a learning path with clear progression.
  • Robust Exam Prep: The question bank reflects actual questions and format and is fantastic for practice exams and drills, giving you confidence for the big day.
  • Strong Industry Reputation: Kaplan is a trusted and well-established name in education, lending a high degree of credibility (which may mean less stress).

Cons

  • Higher Price Point: Kaplan’s Career Launcher package is several hundred dollars more expensive than competing premium-tier prep bundles.
  • No Dedicated Mobile App: Despite being mobile-friendly via a browser, Kaplan currently does not offer a dedicated mobile app for their real estate courses.

Bottom Line

If you learn best with structure, live interaction, and high-quality instruction, Kaplan Real Estate Education is a great choice for your Missouri real estate license. While the Career Launcher package might cost a bit more, I believe the comprehensive materials, expert instruction, and robust exam prep tools offer excellent value for a serious real estate career. However, if you want a career-driven bundle at a lower price, Colibri might be a better match.

4. PrepAgent: Best for Exam Prep Only (Comprehensive)

PrepAgent

First and foremost, PrepAgent is an exam prep course, not a complete pre-licensing program. This means you’ll need to complete your 72 hours of Missouri real estate pre-licensing education elsewhere before using PrepAgent. However, once you’ve finished your coursework, PrepAgent is one of the best tools I have found for passing your state licensing exam.

PrepAgent is all about—you guessed it—prep. That includes thousands of practice questions, 75+ entertaining, animated prep videos, audio lessons for on-the-go learning, and live webinars five times a week, every week. I particularly enjoyed the videos; the colorful, illustrated style helped keep me awake when I partook in late-night study sessions, and the interactive activities and humor made studying more enjoyable than the traditional dry lectures. And, although PrepAgent is a supplement, it’s an affordable one. PrepAgent costs between $1 and $10 a day, regardless of which package you choose.

PrepAget questions

Another reviewer explains how it helped their process:
“PrepAgent definitely helped me! I took the exam in each section and wouldn’t move on until I made a 90% or higher. It is helpful because when you get a question wrong, it explains why, which is part of the learning process.”

Course Features

  • Extensive Practice Questions: Thousands of questions, including both national and state-specific ones for Missouri.
  • Live Webinars: Weekly live online sessions with instructors where you can ask questions and review tough topics.
  • Engaging Video & Audio Lessons: Content is delivered in an easy-to-understand format.
  • Digital Flashcards: A great tool for vocabulary memorization.
  • Vocabulary Workbooks: Helps you master the language of real estate.
  • Money-Back Guarantee: If you don’t pass your real estate exam after using PrepAgent, they’ll refund your money.

Pros

  • Extensive Practice & Study Tools: Offers thousands of realistic practice questions, interactive flashcards, vocabulary worksheets, and an exam prep eBook for comprehensive study.
  • Engaging Multimedia Lessons: Provides over 75 animated video lessons and hours of audio lessons, breaking down complex topics for easy understanding and on-the-go learning.
  • Interactive Live Webinars: Features live online webinars five times a week, allowing direct interaction with instructors, real-time Q&A, and access to recorded sessions for flexible viewing.
  • Generous Money-Back Guarantee: PrepAgent offers a straightforward 100% money-back guarantee if you’re not satisfied, typically within a generous timeframe.

Cons

  • Not Pre-Licensing: Remember, this won’t fulfill your educational requirements for your Missouri real estate license. You’ll need another school for that.
  • No Physical Materials: It’s all online, which might be a drawback if you prefer physical textbooks.
  • Limited Access Period: Subscriptions are typically 1-3 months, requiring additional fees for longer access.

Bottom Line

Whether you’ve finished your pre-licensing coursework or want supplemental prep materials to ensure you pass on your first try, PrepAgent could help you achieve your goals. Their vast question bank and engaging live webinars help build both knowledge and confidence, boosting your odds of passing on your first try. However, if you’re looking for a comprehensive course, consider alternatives like Colibri, The CE Shop, or Kaplan.

5. CompuCram: Best for Exam Prep Only (Targeted Practice)

CompuCram

Like PrepAgent, CompuCram is an exam prep provider only and doesn’t include Missouri pre-licensing education. However, it’s a highly effective tool that many students use, often in conjunction with their pre-licensing course (in fact, it’s integrated with some Colibri packages).

A Reddit post highlighted that the questions are tougher than PrepAgent, but this could be a plus if you like a challenge:
“The problems REALLY were very different from those on PrepAgent. I consistently scored about 85% on PrepAgent but only got 70% on the pre-assessment exam on CompuCram. I then spent much more time on CompuCram and could consistently score 85% on the mock exams when I was ready to take the real exam.”

What I found particularly useful is their “readiness indicator,” which tracked my progress and showed me my improvements as my performance got closer to exam-day ready. Having a visual way to know I understand the material helped me stay interested and motivated in the content, and I think it could do the same thing for aspiring Missouri real estate agents. If you need a powerful, data-driven way to ensure you’re ready for the state licensing exam, CompuCram is a solid choice.

Compucram ready score

Course Features

  • All-in-One Exam Prep: Combines flashcards, study vocabulary, practice tests, and simulated exams.
  • Readiness Indicator: A unique feature that tells you when you’re ready to pass the actual exam.
  • Dynamic Practice Tests: Questions adapt to your performance, focusing on areas where you need improvement.
  • Simulated Exams: Realistic practice tests that mimic the actual state licensing exam conditions.
  • Money-Back Guarantee: They offer a guarantee that you’ll pass the exam on your first try or get your money back (check terms).
  • 180-Day Access: You get a generous six months to utilize their resources.

Pros

  • Pre-Assessment Exam: CompuCram offers an exclusive initial pre-assessment test that helps identify your strengths and weaknesses from the outset, allowing you to focus your study efforts more efficiently.
  • Mobile and Tablet Friendly (Web App): CompuCram is designed with a beautifully designed mobile and tablet-friendly interface, allowing you to study anytime, anywhere, on any device through your web browser.
  • Up-to-Date Content & Questions: CompuCram partners with local industry experts to ensure their exam questions are relevant, current, and accurately reflect the content of the actual state exam.

Cons

  • Less Engaging for Some: While comprehensive, it might not have the same level of interactive videos or live instruction as PrepAgent.
  • No Instructional Content: CompuCram focuses exclusively on practice questions and does not provide any foundational lessons or topic explanations. If you’re struggling to understand core concepts, you’ll need to supplement with another course or textbook.
  • Limited Support: Help is confined to a basic FAQ section rather than live assistance or one-on-one guidance. If you run into a technical issue or have a content question, you may face delays and won’t get personalized feedback.

Bottom Line

CompuCram is an excellent, focused exam prep course. I think its data-driven approach, especially the readiness indicator and vast practice test bank, makes it a top choice for students who want to be absolutely sure they’re ready for the Missouri real estate exam. However, if you want a complete course, Colibri includes CompuCram in some packages and fulfills the educational requirements as well.

6. VanEd: Solid for Self-Paced Learning with Instructor Access

VanEd

VanEd’s Missouri pre-licensing course is a decent middle-of-the-road option for aspiring real estate agents who prefer a flexible, self-paced format but still want occasional instructor support. The curriculum covers all 72 hours of state-required education, and the course content is generally clear and comprehensive. I appreciated the inclusion of practice quizzes and exam prep tools that help reinforce the material, especially for learners who need extra time to grasp key concepts. The availability of real instructors via email or phone adds value, particularly for students who might get stuck or want clarification.

VanEd dashboard

That said, VanEd’s platform lacks some of the polish and interactivity offered by higher-ranked competitors. The interface leans heavily on static PDFs and text-based learning, with limited video or multimedia content to break things up. I also ran into time-locked pages that made it hard to move at my own pace—even when I was ready. If you’re motivated and don’t mind a more old-school online learning experience, VanEd can get the job done. But if you’re looking for a more engaging interface or features like peer interaction or a pass guarantee, you may want to explore other schools higher on the list.

Course Features

  • Self-Paced Learning: Study on your own time, fitting the course around your life.
  • Instructor Support: Access to real instructors for questions and guidance via email or phone.
  • Online Text & Videos: A mix of reading material and video lectures to explain concepts.
  • Practice Questions & Quizzes: Built-in assessments to check your understanding as you go.
  • Course Glossary: Helps you understand real estate terms.

Pros

  • Flexible Online Learning: Provides a 100% online, self-paced learning experience, allowing you to start immediately and study at your convenience from any location.
  • Experienced Instructors: Features a staff of experienced and practicing industry professionals as instructors who are available to assist students with questions.
  • Variety of Exam Prep Tools: Offers multiple practice exams, timed quizzes mirroring the real test, and detailed answer explanations to refine test-taking skills.

Cons

  • Time Constraints on Pages: I found it frustrating that I had to spend a set amount of time on every page before I could move on. It really slowed me down, especially when I already knew the material and just wanted to move ahead.
  • Lack of Strong Interactive Multimedia: Even though the course mentions videos and audio, it leaned too heavily on text and PDFs. Compared to other platforms with more dynamic and interactive multimedia, the experience here felt a bit flat and less engaging.
  • Final Exam Questions Unrelated to Course Content: Some of the final exam questions can feel completely unrelated to what was covered in the course.
  • No Student-to-Student Interaction: As an online, self-paced platform, VanEd lacks built-in features for student-to-student interaction or forums, which can be a drawback for those who benefit from peer discussion and networking.

Bottom Line

VanEd is a solid choice for aspiring real estate professionals in Missouri who value self-paced online learning combined with direct access to expert instructors. Their comprehensive materials will prepare you, though if you’re seeking a highly interactive interface or a pass guarantee, you might explore other options.

7. 1st Choice Real Estate School: Local Expertise with Online Options

1st Choice Real estate School

1st Choice Real Estate School delivers a straightforward, no-frills approach to Missouri real estate education. The course is entirely self-paced, which gave me the flexibility to log in and out as needed, and the system reliably tracked my progress. The material covers the basics, and I appreciated the occasional real-world examples that tied lessons back to Missouri-specific practices. Instructor support was available, and I found responses to be helpful, though not always immediate. It’s a course that gets the job done—but without much polish.

1st Choice dashbaord

That said, the overall experience felt a bit dated. The platform is functional but lacks the interactive features or engaging media (like videos or animations) found in other programs. Most of the learning is text-heavy, which may be fine for independent learners, but I found myself disengaging at times. The higher price point also surprised me, especially given the minimal extras—there’s no pass guarantee, no adaptive learning tools, and nothing that really made the course stand out. It’s a serviceable option, especially if you value local knowledge, but it’s not the strongest choice for students looking for a modern, motivating online experience.

Course Features

  • MREC-Approved Courses: All courses meet Missouri Real Estate Commission requirements.
  • Self-Paced Online Format: Study at your own convenience, with the system remembering your progress.
  • Chapter Quizzes & Final Exams: Assessments to help you master the material.
  • Instructor Support: Access to instructors for questions about course material.
  • Mobile/Tablet Friendly: Courses are accessible on various devices.
  • Local Focus: As a Missouri-based school, they likely have a strong understanding of local real estate nuances.

Pros

  • Personalized Attention: As a locally focused school, 1st Choice often provides a more individualized learning experience, allowing instructors and staff to offer more tailored support and guidance to each student.
  • Emphasis on Practical Application: The curriculum is likely designed to integrate real-world, localized advice and scenarios, ensuring students understand not just theory but also how concepts apply directly to the Missouri real estate industry.

Cons

  • Potentially Less Modern Online Platform: While functional, the online learning platform’s interface and features might be less sophisticated or visually appealing compared to the cutting-edge platforms offered by larger national online providers.
  • Higher Cost: 1st Choice Real Estate School’s tuition runs higher than many national providers, so you’ll invest more upfront for the local focus. If budget is a primary concern, you might find comparable features at a lower price elsewhere.
  • No Formal Pass Guarantee: There’s no clear, written refund or pass-or-refund policy, so you won’t know exactly what recourse you have if you don’t pass.
  • Absence of a Dedicated Mobile App: Despite being accessible via web browser on mobile devices, the lack of a specific mobile application could be a drawback for students who prefer the optimized user experience.

Bottom Line

1st Choice Real Estate School offers a reliable path to your Missouri real estate license with the benefit of local expertise and instructor support. While their online package details might require a direct inquiry, their positive local reputation suggests a commitment to student success. It’s a good option if you prefer a school with strong Missouri roots.

8. Real Estate U: Affordable and Flexible Online Learning

Real Estate U

Real Estate U is one of the most affordable options for completing your Missouri real estate pre-licensing education, and it delivers a simple, audio-focused learning experience for students who are highly self-motivated. The course is entirely on demand, and I appreciated how easy it was to move through lessons at my own pace. The audio tutorials are a standout feature—great for listening during commutes or while multitasking—which made the course feel more flexible than others that rely solely on reading.

However, that same audio-heavy approach can be limiting. Most lessons are little more than voiceovers paired with static slides or PDFs, and there’s very little interactivity or visual reinforcement to help keep you engaged. I found myself zoning out during longer sessions, and without quizzes between sections, it was easy to lose track of what I’d actually retained. There’s no live instruction or real-time support for content questions, so if you’re someone who needs structure or feedback, this course may feel isolating. It’s best suited for independent learners who want a low-cost option and don’t mind sacrificing engagement and instructor interaction to get it.

Course Features

  • Audio Tutorials: Excellent for auditory learners, allowing you to listen to lessons on the go.
  • Experienced Instructors: Content developed and reviewed by experienced real estate professionals.
  • Downloadable Materials: Access to course materials offline for convenient study.
  • 24/7 Accessibility: Lessons are available around the clock.
  • State-Approved & Arello Certified: Ensures compliance with Missouri Real Estate Commission (MREC) requirements.
  • Student Support: 24/7 access to student support for technical or course-related questions.

Pros

  • Flexibility & Convenience: The self-paced, on-demand format is ideal for individuals with busy schedules, allowing them to fit studies around existing commitments.
  • Auditory Learning Focus: The inclusion of audio tutorials is a significant advantage for students who prefer to learn by listening.

Cons

  • No Live Classes: Students who prefer live interaction, instructor-led sessions, or a traditional classroom environment might find this format lacking.
  • No Mobile App: While accessible on mobile browsers, the lack of a dedicated mobile app might hinder seamless mobile learning for some users.
  • No Pass Guarantee: Unlike some providers, Real Estate U does not offer a specific pass-the-exam-or-your-money-back guarantee for the state licensing exam.

Bottom Line

Real Estate U is an excellent choice for self-disciplined learners seeking an affordable and highly flexible online real estate education in Missouri. Its strength lies in its low cost and on-demand content, which is particularly beneficial for auditory learners. That said, if you want live instructor interaction or a pass guarantee, you might find better value in Colibri or Kaplan—even if they come at a higher price.

9. Real Estate School of the Ozarks: High-Quality Education with Personalized Support

Ozarks

Real Estate School of the Ozarks offers a well-rounded learning experience that stands out for its personalized support and instructor expertise. The school focuses on traditional education by offering thorough in-person classes blended with some digital resources, giving students support and flexibility. I found the instructors’ involvement to be one of the most impressive aspects; communication felt genuine and accessible, and the guidance leaned more personal than transactional. The digital study tools, like flashcards and practice questions, helped reinforce key concepts without leaving me overwhelmed.

Ozarks calendar

That said, the online format still carries some of the usual drawbacks common to self-paced courses. The interface is mobile-friendly but basic, and there’s no dedicated app, which makes switching between devices a bit clunky. If you’re someone who needs highly visual or interactive content to stay engaged, the course may feel dry at times. Further, you can’t complete your prelicensing completely online with RESO; you’ll have to go through their partner, the Global School of Real Estate. Still, for students who value mentorship and want more than a “pass-the-test” mindset, Real Estate School of the Ozarks delivers a strong local option that balances foundational knowledge with long-term career readiness.

Course Features

  • Experienced Instructors: Benefit from over 40 years of combined instructor experience.
  • Personal Mentorship: A strong emphasis on personalized support and guidance from instructors.
  • Blended Learning Options: Offers online (through Global Real Estate School), in-person, and digital material formats for flexibility.
  • Comprehensive Curriculum: Covers all necessary topics to meet Missouri Real Estate Commission (MREC) requirements.
  • Technology Training: Incorporates training relevant to current real estate technology.
  • Digital Study Tools: Includes digital flashcards and practice questions to reinforce learning.
  • Mobile-Friendly Platform: Accessible on various devices for convenient study.
  • Post-License Coaching: Offers support beyond pre-licensing to help with career development.

Pros

  • Comprehensive Preparation: Focuses on not just passing the exam but also on building a foundation for a successful real estate career.
  • Personalized Mentorship: Offers a personal mentorship program, pairing students with experienced professionals for one-on-one guidance and support.

Cons

  • Potentially Higher Cost: The in-person and other specific offerings are often priced higher than self-paced online options from another provider.
  • Regional Focus: While local expertise is a strength, the strong “Ozarks” focus might be perceived as less universally comprehensive for practice across diverse parts of Missouri.
  • Requires Strong Self-Discipline for Online: As a self-paced online provider, success heavily relies on your ability to stay motivated and disciplined without external accountability of fixed class times.
  • Course Can Be Perceived as “Boring”: Like any course, the format can feel a little lackluster if you don’t like the traditional “sit in a classroom and listen to lectures” method.
  • No Dedicated Mobile App: While their online platform is described as mobile-friendly and accessible on devices, they do not appear to offer a dedicated mobile application for a more integrated app-based learning experience.

Bottom Line

The Real Estate School of the Ozarks is an excellent choice for students who value experienced instructors, in-person support, and a comprehensive approach to real estate education. They are a compelling option, especially if you appreciate a local school with a strong community reputation and a focus on preparing you for a real estate career, not just the exam.

10. Global Real Estate School: Personalized Online Learning with Expert Instruction

Global Real Estate

Global Real Estate School offers a self-paced online option for Missouri real estate pre-licensing, with the added benefit of direct instruction from industry veteran John Mayfield. The course includes audio lessons, flashcards, and simulated exams, and it’s accessible across devices for up to a year—making it flexible for students who need to study on their own schedule. The personal touch of a single instructor guiding the material may appeal to students who want consistency in tone and teaching style.

That said, the overall experience felt limited. The course leans heavily on repetition—I noticed the same concepts showing up in multiple formats, which sometimes felt more redundant than reinforcing. While the instructor is clearly knowledgeable, the content revolves so much around his personal teaching style and brand that it lacks the variety and depth I’ve seen in other programs. After a while, the material started to feel more like passive test prep than a well-rounded education. For students who are highly self-motivated and prefer a no-frills experience with a single point of instruction, it might be enough—but for anyone looking for more engagement, structure, or support, there are stronger options available.

Course Features

  • 24/7 Mobile-Friendly Access: Study anytime, anywhere, on any device for a full year.
  • Comprehensive Curriculum: Covers both Pre-License and Post-License content.
  • Extensive Exam Preparation: Includes practice questions, simulated exams, and digital flashcards.
  • Audio Lessons: Provides flexibility for auditory learners or for review on the go.
  • Expert Instructor: Taught by John Mayfield, who has over 40 years of experience in the real estate industry.
  • Interactive Learning: Utilizes video content, live-streaming sessions, and audio feedback to create an engaging experience.

Pros

  • Flexible Online Access: You get 24/7 mobile-friendly access for a whole year! This means you have plenty of time and flexibility to complete the course at your own pace.

Cons

  • Potential for Repetitive Content: Even though the course offered a mix of videos, audio, and flashcards, I noticed the content started to feel repetitive after a while. As someone who needs variety to stay engaged, going through similar material over many hours became a bit monotonous.
  • Reliance on Self-Discipline: Since the course is completely online and self-paced, it heavily relies on personal discipline. Without any fixed class schedules or external accountability, it was entirely up to you to stay motivated.
  • Focus on Instructor’s Personal Brand: While John Mayfield brings a lot of experience to the table, the course revolved heavily around his personal brand. It sometimes felt more like following one instructor’s personal platform than being part of a broader, well-rounded school.
  • Too Much Focus on Standardized Tests: The curriculum felt very focused on standardized tests, but after a while, it can feel like it left little room for creativity.
  • Not Enough Individual Attention: With so many students, it seemed tough for teachers to offer personalized support. This could mean some students don’t get the tailored help that would really benefit them.

Bottom Line

Global Real Estate School is a strong contender for those looking to fulfill their Missouri real estate education online, especially if direct access to an experienced instructor is a priority. Their comprehensive digital resources and flexible access cater well to self-paced online learners.

Honorable Mentions

While our main focus was on the above, a few other schools deserve mention for their Missouri real estate offerings:

How the Courses Were Ranked

When I looked at these online real estate schools for Missouri, I considered several key factors to determine their ranking and help you choose the best fit:

  • 📚 Course Content Quality – I focused on the depth and accuracy of study materials, ensuring they cover all MREC requirements and prepare you for the state licensing exam. For instance, Colibri Real Estate is known for its comprehensive curriculum created by industry experts with real-world examples, while Kaplan Real Estate often provides a robust array of materials, including print/digital textbooks.
  • 🎯 Effectiveness – I looked for reported success rates, student outcomes, and how well the courses prepare you to pass on your first try. For example, tools like CompuCram report an 86.5% pass rate.
  • 💻 User Experience – This was big for me. I evaluated how easy the platforms were to navigate, the quality of the interface, and the level of student support. A good user experience means less frustration and more learning. Colibri Real Estate stands out with its next-generation student dashboard and a highly intuitive, user-friendly online platform. Similarly, CompuCram—featured in some Colibri packages—is recognized for its “all-in-one” prep system, featuring a Readiness Indicator that helps students know when they’re ready to take the exam.
  • 📊 Practice Questions & Exams – I paid close attention to the quantity and quality of practice tests and simulated exams. Tools like Kaplan’s QBank or The CE Shop’s Exam Prep Edge truly make a difference.
  • 🎥 Instructor Engagement – Whether through live online classes or direct Q&A, I assessed how accessible and helpful the instructors were. Kaplan and Colibri, for example, offer great instructor support.
  • 💰 Value for Money – I weighed the pricing against the features offered. Is a premium package worth the extra cost for the added exam prep or career tools? Colibri Real Estate offers various packages, including those with career resources, while Kaplan Real Estate tends to be on the higher end but often includes robust features like live classes.
  • 🔄 Flexibility – Since these are online options, I considered how truly self-paced or structured the learning options were to fit various schedules. The CE Shop is known for its highly self-paced and mobile-friendly approach. Kaplan Real Estate also provides a mix of live online and self-paced options.

Side-by-Side Showdown: Missouri Real Estate Course Comparisons

Let’s put some of the top contenders head-to-head to help you pinpoint the best fit for your real estate career in Missouri. If you’re considering other states, check out this article reviewing the best real estate courses online.

The CE Shop vs. Kaplan Real Estate Education

The CE Shop truly excels in its interactive online experience. During my time navigating their platform, the Leap 2.0 interface consistently stood out. It’s designed to keep you engaged with its mix of videos, quizzes, and a clean layout, which genuinely makes absorbing the material feel less like a chore. If you’re someone who learns best by actively participating with content, The CE Shop could be a strong match. I found myself appreciating their contemporary approach and how thoroughly they covered the content necessary for passing the real estate exam.

Conversely, Kaplan Real Estate Education shines if you seek a more structured, classroom-like environment, even in an online setting. Their Live Online Learning Hub is a significant advantage if you prefer the routine of scheduled classes, direct interaction with expert instructors, and the ability to pose questions in real-time. If you value a more directed teaching style and a well-established educational brand, Kaplan presents a compelling option.

Colibri vs. Kaplan

Colibri Real Estate offers notable flexibility for individuals who prefer to learn at their own pace. I found their self-paced design particularly accommodating, allowing me to integrate studying seamlessly into my schedule without feeling pressed for time. They also incorporate career resources, which I consider a valuable addition for new professionals entering the real estate field.

Kaplan Real Estate Education, as previously mentioned, is well-suited for students who thrive in a more structured and interactive learning setting. If you benefit from live instruction, the immediate opportunity to ask questions, and a defined schedule to maintain discipline, Kaplan’s Live Online offerings are a superior choice. While their cost might be on the higher side, my observations suggest that the caliber of their expert instruction and the comprehensive nature of their study materials offer significant value for individuals committed to passing their real estate exams efficiently.

PrepAgent vs. VanEd

PrepAgent focuses exclusively on exam preparation, and it performs this function exceptionally well. If you’ve already completed your Missouri real estate education and primarily need a targeted boost for the state licensing exam, PrepAgent is a premier choice. I found their extensive bank of practice questions, engaging video lessons, and live webinars to be remarkably effective for focused review and building confidence for the real estate exam.

VanEd, on the other hand, provides the complete pre-licensing course, with exam preparation integrated into its premium package. I observed that its strength lies in comprehensive, self-paced online materials complemented by direct access to experienced instructors. If you prefer a complete educational experience from a single provider, VanEd offers a straightforward path. While its interface might not possess the same modern flair as some other platforms, it provides thorough material and instructor support with a clear curriculum and assistance.

CompuCram vs. PrepAgent

CompuCram stands out as a focused exam prep tool, particularly if you appreciate a data-driven methodology. I found their readiness indicator remarkably useful; it provided a clear visual representation of my progress and helped pinpoint areas needing improvement, which was a strong motivator. The practice questions felt appropriately challenging, closely mirroring the actual exam, which undeniably contributed to building confidence. If you’re seeking a system that analytically guides you toward “exam readiness,” CompuCram is a solid option. However, it is exclusively for practice and does not offer foundational lessons.

PrepAgent, while also an exam prep resource, offers a more diverse multimedia approach. The animated videos and audio lessons provided a welcome change of pace when extensive reading became tiresome. The live webinars were honestly the highlight for me—being able to ask questions in real time made the concepts click right away. If you learn effectively through engaging visuals and direct (though virtual) instruction, PrepAgent might offer a more enjoyable preparation experience. It also provides clear explanations for incorrect answers, which I found essential for learning.

Colibri Real Estate vs. The CE Shop

Colibri Real Estate offers a balanced and thorough learning experience. When exploring their platform, I was impressed by the range of packages that cater to different requirements and budgets. The instructor Q&A sessions were a particular highlight, providing valuable real-time clarification, especially on more complex topics like real estate mathematics. Their collaboration with Buffini & Company for career resources also caught my attention, as it addresses the transition from licensure to building a successful career.

The CE Shop is recognized for its engaging and modern user experience. I found their Leap 2.0 platform to be exceptionally intuitive and interactive, which significantly contributed to maintaining my engagement compared to more traditional, text-heavy courses. The ease of tracking my progress and the inclusion of scenario-based learning made the material more memorable. While their core content is largely text-based, its presentation with interactive elements is their “X” factor. If you prioritize a clean, user-friendly interface and comprehensive quiz banks, The CE Shop is a strong candidate.

Real Estate U vs. 1st Choice Real Estate School

Real Estate U is a viable choice for those who are budget-conscious and prefer auditory learning. I appreciated its affordability and the convenience of its audio tutorials, which enabled me to study while multitasking or commuting. If you are highly self-motivated and primarily learn by listening, this platform offers a straightforward and accessible path. However, I did find the absence of visual engagement and interactive quizzes to be a minor challenge during extended study sessions. It’s a foundational option, best suited for those who do not require extensive features or live support.

1st Choice Real Estate School offers a more localized and potentially personalized experience. The platform might feel a little old school and light on interaction, but having local instructors on hand and all those Missouri-specific insights totally make up for it. If you want a school that is deeply rooted in Missouri and offers extra personal attention from instructors who truly understand local nuances, this could be an ideal pick. However, it comes at a higher cost without the advanced features or guarantees often found in larger national providers.

VanEd vs. Real Estate School of the Ozarks

VanEd provides a solid option for learners who want to move at their own pace while still having instructors just a message away.

The curriculum felt impressively thorough, ticking off every required hour, and I loved knowing I could shoot an email or make a quick call to a real instructor whenever a tricky concept cropped up. However, I did experience time-locked pages, which was a minor frustration when I wanted to skim familiar sections. Overall, if you care about deep content and easy access to human help and are fine with a platform that is more straightforward than flashy, this program is a dependable pick.

Real Estate School of the Ozarks really shines through in its personalized support. I was genuinely impressed by the authentic instructor involvement and the focus on mentorship, which extends beyond merely “passing the test.” If you value a supportive learning environment, direct guidance from experienced professionals, and an emphasis on a program that prepares you for real-world work rather than just test day, this school offers a well-rounded and more personally connected educational journey.

Colibri Real Estate vs. Global Real Estate School

Colibri Real Estate truly offers a well-rounded and comprehensive package. They let me set a pace that suited my schedule, and the depth of their study-aid library was impressive for reinforcing complex topics. The availability of monthly instructor Q&A sessions and career resources from Buffini & Company felt like real added value, making it a robust all-in-one solution for aspiring agents seeking both pre-licensing and career assistance.

Global Real Estate School is also self-paced and gives you a more personal vibe because John Mayfield guides every lesson. His consistent teaching style really helped things stick, and having a full year of access meant no rush to finish. If you prefer a singular, experienced voice guiding you through the material and do not need fancy interactive tools or lots of videos, Global Real can do the job. However, I felt it sometimes leaned more into test preparation than a comprehensive industry education and certain content areas could feel repetitive.

The CE Shop vs. Real Estate School of the Ozarks

The CE Shop excels with its modern, interactive platform and engaging content. The “Leap 2.0” platform was particularly intuitive, making it easy to track progress and stay motivated with its dynamic quizzes and exercises. I found their Exam Prep Edge to be a powerful tool for identifying and improving on weaker areas. If you’re a visually oriented learner who appreciates a polished interface and wants prep tools that adapt to the way you learn, The CE Shop offers an online experience that is hard to beat.

Real Estate School of the Ozarks provides a more personalized and community-oriented approach, offering traditional classroom-style in-person interaction. I was genuinely impressed by the authentic instructor involvement and the emphasis on personalizreal etateed mentorship. So, if you want a program with strong local roots and personal guidance, this school offers a supportive and thoroughly engaging journey.

Final Thoughts

Choosing the best online real estate school in Missouri is a big step toward your real estate career. For overall comprehensive education and solid exam prep, I’d lean towards Colibri for its flexibility and robust packages.

If you’re a hands-on learner who thrives on interactivity and wants excellent post-licensing career tools, The CE Shop is a phenomenal choice. And if live instruction and a highly structured path are your preference, Kaplan Real Estate Education stands out.

Remember to consider your own learning style, your budget, and how much exam prep support you think you’ll need. Pick the one that gives you the most confidence to kickstart your successful real estate career.
