Laremy Tunsil believes he let his team down after a freak shower accident kept him out of Sunday’s loss to the Titans.

In a story that’s stranger than fiction, Tunsil reiterated that, yes, he did actually take a spill while getting out of the shower at the team hotel hours before the Tennessee game.

“I thought I twisted my ankle, the same one I dislocated in college,” Tunsil said. “The one I had surgery on. It was pretty banged up. Thought something was wrong with it. Went to the training room. Had a little sprain. Everything's good. Ready to be here with my team Sunday, play against the Steelers.”

So yes, Showergate should only be a one-week story. Tunsil is back at practice this week and expects to line up at left guard Sunday afternoon.

“It was very disappointing not to be out there with your team and a freak accident like that happens,” Tunsil said. “It was very disappointing. Wish I was out there with the guys.”

Some backstory:

Tunsil suffered a horrific injury leg injury in the 2014 Peach Bowl. He both broke his leg and dislocated his ankle. His rehab took the entire 2015 offseason.

So when he twisted the same ankle Sunday morning, it was alarming.

Durability was just one of several concerns surrounding Tunsil coming out of Ole Miss. Most famously, someone hacked his Twitter account on draft night and posted a video of him smoking weed through a gas-mask bong.

But the Dolphins said he’s been nothing but reliable since walking on campus.

”He’s a pro,” said offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen. “He has exceeded our expectations. I liked him when we drafted him. I liked him as a player and a man. That doubled once we got him and [saw] what we had. He has maturity way, way, way beyond what his years are. He has a chance to be a great pro. He’s really sharp."
