Miami has long been known as a big-event town.
In a few weeks, Major League Baseball is bringing one of its signature events to South Florida for the first time.
As of Wednesday, there appear to be plenty of tickets available for the All-Star Game at Marlins Park on July 11 as well as the popular Home Run Derby the previous day.
For the past couple of weeks, the Marlins have sent out emails to those on their mailing list offering the opportunity to purchase tickets to ‘All-Star Week’ which includes: All-Star Sunday (the Futures Game and celebrity softball game), Monday’s workout day and Home Run Derby and Tuesday’s All-Star Game.
Never miss a local story.
Now anyone can purchase them.
Once offered only to Marlins season seat holders, tickets to the entire All-Star experience are now available for purchase on MLB.com.
Tickets to Monday’s events — which includes admission to the full team workout at Marlins Park as well as the popular Home Run Derby — were available as of Wednesday for the face value price of $280 each plus $12 in fees. Tickets for Monday go up to $363.
For Tuesday’s All-Star Game, tickets in the upper deck start at $292 (with fees).
Sunday’s events at the ballpark — the first 10,000 get a Pudge Rodriguez Marlins’ bobblehead and Flo Rida will perform — start at $80 and go up to $150.
Fans who buy tickets through the official MLB.com site are given the option to buy parking for $30 with their purchase.
Tickets to the MLB FanFest at the Miami Beach Covention Center are also included in ticket packages being offered by MLB.
For those who would rather go through the secondary ticket market, there are plenty of seats up for sale as some who may have loaded up on tickets hoping to flip them for a nice profit have plenty of competition — at least a few weeks away from the event.
On StubHub, tickets for Sunday’s events are going for as little as $6; tickets for the Home Run Derby (on the third base side in the upper deck) are going for $190 (with $35.80 in fees).
Tuesday’s All-Star tickets start at $322.44 (with fees).
StubHub also had full strips of tickets to all three events starting at $400 — with $74.75 in fees.
