Marlins team up with Uber in effort to help fans’ commute to and from home ballpark
The Marlins announced a partnership with Uber on Wednesday that could simplify fans’ commute to and from Marlins Park.
The new deal includes a designated pick-up and drop-off lot for spectators choosing to commute to the stadium using the transportation service that will be located along NW 5th Street and 14th Avenue.
The designated lot is already in use as of Wednesday as the Marlins continue their series with the Washington Nationals at 12:10 p.m.
The Marlins host seven more games (four against the Cubs and three against the Mets) over the next eight days.
But more importantly, the move comes in time for the upcoming MLB All-Star Game, which will be held at Marlins Park on July 11.
In addition to the game itself, several well-attended events such as the Futures Game and Celebrity Softball Game on July 9 and the Home Run Derby on July 10 are expected to draw large crowds to Marlins Park as it hosts baseball’s Midsummer Classic for the first time.
"We are very excited with our new partnership with Uber as we continue to find ways to improve the overall fan experience at Marlins Park," said team President David Samson in a statement released by the Marlins. "The designated lot will provide fans with another transportation option when attending Marlins games, special events, and all the upcoming All-Star Game activities in July."
