ESPN’s The Coach, a WWE alum, wants ‘Dancing with the Stars’ spot
During the Sunday afternoon (July 17) radio show “The Coach & Bretos” on ESPN Radio and the ESPN App, co-host The Coach Jonathan Coachman said he wanted to participate on one of his favorite televisions shows, “Dancing with the Stars,” on ESPN’s sister network ABC.
Coachman, an ESPN SportsCenter anchor and former WWE broadcaster/talent, said Kenny Mayne is the only ESPN SportsCenter anchor to be on “Dancing with the Stars.” Mayne was the first eliminated in Season Two in January 2006.
So if selected, Coach would be the second ESPN SportsCenter anchor chosen and third with WWE roots. WWE Diva Stacy Keibler also danced on Season Two. She finished third with dancer Tony Dovolani.
WWE Superstar Chris Jericho was part of the ensemble for Season 12 in March 2011, and he placed seventh with dancer Cheryl Burke (Team Cher-icho).
Coachman is known for his dance moves during his WWE days, especially when interacting with The Rock Dwayne Johnson and The New Day.
Season 23 of “Dancing with the Stars” will be in September. Hopefully The Coach will get the call.
