Man slashes his estranged wife’s throat, then cuts his own

A woman in her 40s was stabbed to death by her estranged husband Wednesday night as she exited her car near a Miami home, police said.

The unidentified man turned the knife he used on his wife and stabbed himself in the stomach. He then slashed his throat.

He was taken to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he died, police said.

“Apparently the man sliced the woman’s throat,” said Yelitza Cedano, a spokeswoman for Miami Police.

According to police, the stabbing happened at about 5 p.m. around Northwest 58th Court and Second Street, just north of Flagler Street and west of Red Road. Police said the man ambushed his wife and slashed her throat.

A neighbor told Herald news partner Univision 23 that he was outside, heard screams and ran to where he found the bloodied woman lying on the sidewalk near a fence. A call came into 911 reporting a violent dispute.

Cedano said the pair had an adult child in common.
