SWAT standoff with armed, barricaded man in North Miami ends
A man was taken into police custody after an hours long standoff at a North Miami home that ended just before 1 a.m..
Just before the man, who North Miami police said was armed and barricaded inside his house, was taken into custody, a police officer on a megaphone told him: “Come on out now. Come on out. Put your hands up. Lie on the ground.”
The home is near 120th Street and Northwest 15th Avenue. Starting before 10 p.m., helicopters circled the area and police officers with long guns patrolled the neighborhood. A North Miami police spokesperson told Miami Herald news partner CBS4 that a SWAT team and negotiators were on scene.
There is a heavy police presence in a North Miami neighborhood where a man has reportedly barricaded himself in a home.
According to CBS4, original reports said there were shots fired, but police would not confirm that information.
