Dozens of protesters gathered and blocked the intersection of Northeast 125th Street and West Dixie Highway Monday afternoon demanding that North Miami police officer Jonathan Aledda be charged and convicted in the shooting of Charles Kinsey.

The group included members of the LIFE Collective and the Circle of Brotherhood, a group that Kinsey, 47, is a member of. The unarmed behavioral therapist was shot by Aledda on July 18 after 911 calls indicated that Kinsey’s autistic patient, 26-year-old Arnaldo Eliud Rios Soto, might have a weapon.

Peaceful protests have also been held both in and out of North Miami police headquarters in recent weeks. The shooting is still under investigation by both the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and State Attorney’s Office.
