Man swimming in the ocean in South Beach drowns

A man swimming in the ocean in South Beach drowned Thursday evening, according to police.

The 42-year-old man was pulled from the water at the 13th Street beach just after 7 p.m.

Police officers applied an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and he was taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center, where he died, police said.
