School lockdowns lifted as Key Biscayne police look for home invasion suspect
The lockdowns at two Key Biscayne schools were lifted around 1 p.m. Friday as police looked for a home invasion suspect.
Key Biscayne K-8 Center and St. Agnes Academy were on lockdown as cops descended on the area. Key Biscayne police confirmed receiving a call about a home invasion Friday morning.
The Archdiocese of Miami and Miami-Dade schools confirmed both schools were no longer on lockdown.
Miami Herald news partner CBS 4 reported that the home invasion happened on Woodcrest Lane. An image from an in-home surveillance system was passed out by neighbors. One of the neighbors, Carolyn Kosen, told a CBS 4 reporter that the suspect was armed.
“There is a man with a gun on Key Biscayne. He just went into a friend’s house and beat up a nanny and left. Please keep the doors locked,” she said.
Miami-Dade police said they were assisting police in the search for the suspect.
