Girl in “extremely critical condition” after fall on Carnival cruise ship at PortMiami

UPDATE: The 8-year-old girl has died

An 8-year-old girl fell at least two stories on a Carnival cruise ship at PortMiami Saturday, according to Miami Fire-Rescue.

Miami Fire Rescue captain Ignatius Carroll said the girl was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in “extremely critical condition.”

Carroll said Miami-Dade Fire Rescue originally received the call after 8 a.m. and Miami Fire Rescue responded to help. When Miami Fire Rescue arrived, Miami-Dade rescue workers were performing CPR on the girl who had fallen inside the ship. How far the girl had fallen wasn’t immediately clear.

Miami-Dade police will be investigating the incident.
