David Bozeman allegedly took a short ambulance ride Monday morning.

A man accused of stealing an ambulance crashed it into a University of Miami bus, according to Miami-Dade police.

Miami-Dade police say the ambulance, from the private company Miami-Dade Ambulance Service, sat under the overhang of Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital when David Bozeman, 33, hopped in and drove away around 9:45 a.m. Monday.

Bozeman’s ride ended nearby when he crashed the ambulance into a University of Miami patient transport bus.

The transport bus driver was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Miami police responding to the crash discovered Bozeman wasn’t an authorized driver of the ambulance and arrested him, putting Bozeman back into the justice system. On a March misdemeanor battery charge, he received withheld adjudication with a fine.
