Thief pounds through wall and ATM at loan store, cops say
A Broward County burglar might’ve outdone the original “Ocean’s 11” job: He got into an ATM without blowing up or burning the cash inside.
A video released by the Broward Sheriff’s Office shows a thief breaking into a Fast Payday Loans, 3215 South State Road 7, just south of Miramar Parkway in West Park. And “breaking into” can be taken literally — the criminal pounded a hole in the wall behind the ATM around 12:50 a.m. Aug. 3. He crawled into the business around 3 a.m.
After several failed attempts to penetrate the ATM, the thief found success by pounding the back of the machine with a concrete parking block.
Anyone with information on to the thief should call Detective Jessica Abrams at 954-985-1953. Those hoping to stay anonymous can call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 or go to the website. Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest are eligible for a reward topping out at $3,000.
