A fifth man charged with helping murder suspect escape courthouse

A man facing a second-degree murder charge, now faces charges of escape and accessory after the fact after the Broward Sheriff’s Office accused him of helping another murder suspect escape the Broward County Courthouse last week.

BSO also announced the reward for a tip to Broward Crime Stoppers (954-493-8477) leading to Dayonte Resiles’ capture is now up to $50,000.

According to the affidavit, surveillance cameras caught Walter Hart and Resiles in a holding area preparing an escape. Using his back to block deputies’ view, Hart unlatched and held up the waist chain. That allowed Resiles to begin working his restraints enough to break free once he was seated in courtroom No. 4810’s jury box.

Four others accused of assisting Riles from the outside were arrested Sunday and denied bond Monday.
