Jennifer Suarez Sandoval told police she left her son in her car while she ran into the Sprint store because he was sleeping and she didn't want to disturb him.
But that answer didn't cut it.
Sandoval, 29, was arrested Tuesday and charged with child neglect without great bodily harm.
Never miss a local story.
According to police, Sandoval parked her car in a lot at 3021 SW 160th Ave. in Miramar on April 14 and went into the Sprint store across the street. Meanwhile, an officer spotted the “young child” in the backseat sleeping. The officer noted in the report that the car was running, the doors were unlocked and the air was on.
Sandoval told the officer she “was in the store for only a couple minutes and was coming right back to the vehicle.”
The Department of Children and Families was notified, and Broward’s Child Protection Investigation Section closed their case in May, DCF confirmed Wednesday.
