Jet lands in Fort Lauderdale as pilots smell ‘unidentifiable odor’ in the cockpit
As a Spirit Airlines flight from Guatemala City landed in Fort Lauderdale Monday afternoon, the pilot reported an “unidentifiable odor” in the plane’s cockpit, officials said.
Despite media reports of smoke on board, Spirit spokesman Paul Berry said “it was just an odor.”
“No smoke was ever seen,” he said. “Everybody was fine.”
There were 148 passengers aboard Flight 244, which landed at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport at its scheduled time of 4:30 p.m.
No one was injured, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport spokesman Greg Meyer said.
