Sawgrass Mills mall will remain closed Friday for the third day in a row after several inches of rain flooded its parking lots and roadways, it said.

A message on the mall’s website said it plans to reopen Saturday at 10 a.m.

The massive outlet mall first closed its doors Wednesday after flooding started Tuesday night, leaving some overnight workers to wade through rising waters in the exterior lots to get home and stranding some would-be shoppers whose cars became stuck.

No buildings were flooded, but the mall said Thursday it would keep its doors closed while it waited for the flooding in its parking lots to subside.

Though South Florida saw a respite from rain Thursday, showers are expected to pick up Friday afternoon and last through the weekend.

South Florida saw record-breaking rainfall totals this week, particularly in Broward County, where the mall is located.
