A wildfire forced Alligator Alley to be closed for nearly four hours Monday, but it has been reopened in both directions as of 8:42 p.m., according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Interstate 75 was closed at mile marker 41, causing motorists to find an alternate route across the state.

Troopers will remain on scene and monitor the fire and conditions throughout the night, according to an email from FHP.
