Cheese spread recalled after some consumers found small pieces of plastic inside
Small pieces of plastic inside 14-ounce containers of Merkt’s Port Wine Cheese Spread have caused Bel Brands to make the latest not-food-in-your-food recall Friday.
“...a few consumers have reported finding small pieces of plastic in the product,” the FDA-posted recall notice states.
Such reports came from the production run of Sept. 1 for the port wine cheese spread sold nationwide with a Best By date of April 29, 2018. The UPC code is 76306 60200 and the batch/plant code is LC2442A. No other production runs or Merkt’s products were affected, according to the company.
Buyers should toss this spread or return it to the place of purchase for a refund. Anyone with questions should call 1-888-840-0096 between 9 a,m. to 6 p.m., Eastern time, Monday through Friday.
