Two red carpet movie premieres in Miami
Lots of paparazzi flashes happening in Miami over the weekend.
On Saturday night, at the Tower Theater, a few stars came out for a screening of the immigrant story “Soy Nero,” during the 2016 GEMS showcase, an annual precursor to the Miami Film Festival, to be held in March. Where you may recognize Aml Ameen from: The British actor was in “CSI: Miami.” His costar Darrell Britt-Gibson is an actor/writer known for “Keanu,” “Toe To Toe” and “Squatters.”
And over at the Colony Theatre in Miami Beach on Sunday night, the stars of the locally shot coming-of-age drama walked the walk for “Moonlight.” Stars Alex Hibbert, Trevante Rhodes and Ashton Sanders all were on hand to support the film, directed by Barry Jenkins. “Moonlight,” which opens Oct. 28, chronicles a young black man living in Liberty City who is struggling to come out of the closet. Rhodes, 26; Sanders, 20; and Hibbert, 12, play the character, named Chiron, through various points in his life. More info: www.moonlight-movie.com
