`Twilight' convention hits Fort Lauderdale

Fans of the Twilight series can indulge their passion for the romance novels during a three-day convention in Fort Lauderdale. They'll have a weekend to play, eat, party and take pictures with some of the actors from New Moon, based on the second book in Stephenie Meyer's best-selling saga about the tortured love triangle involving a high school girl, a vampire and a werewolf.

AVENTURA | Police arrested a 39-year-old man on a charge of unlawful use of a handicap parking placard after they said they saw him walk away from his car in a disabled spot at Bloomingdale's, 19555 Biscayne Blvd., at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 9. Police said when they approached and asked him to show the papers for the permit, he first said it belonged his mother and then his brother. They arrested him after they noticed the placard was a photocopy on a piece of cardboard.
