Updated January 12, 2020 6:08 PM
On Jan. 12, 2010, Haiti suffered its worst natural disaster, a massive earthquake that nearly destroyed Port-au-Prince and several nearby cities. In the decade that followed, the promise to reconstruct Haiti has not materialized. While some progress has been made, millions of dollars in studies on how to prepare for the next massive earthquake remain in drawers. Meanwhile, Haitians, tired of waiting on their leaders and the international community, have found their own way as they confront a decade of aftershocks. This series, Haiti Earthquake: A Decade of Aftershocks, was produced in partnership with the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting.
