St. Brendan High School senior swimmer Zuhayr Pigot is a standout student athlete, earning a scholarship to NCAA Division I University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
During the FHSAA Class 2A State Swimming Championships in Stuart, Pigot won the state title in the 50-yard freestyle and was runner-up in the 100-yard butterfly. In the state prelims to qualify for the state finals, Pigot was second in the 50 freestyle and first in the 100 butterfly.
Pigot became the overall fastest male swimmer in the 50 freestyle in the four classifications (4A, 3A, 2A, 1A) at state. A high school Sabre, he is looking forward to academics and athletics with the college Tar Heels.
Miami Herald Youth Sports Reporter Alexa Lorenzo, president of the Broadcasting Honor Society at St. Brendan, caught up with Pigot, interviewing him about academics, athletics and his journey (past, present and future).
