Hana Mandlikova’s daughter loses at OB International tennis

On Day 3 of the Junior Orange Bowl International Tennis Championships, highest remaining American seed Katie Volynets defeated fellow American Elli Mandlik 6-2, 6-0 at the University of Miami to book her spot in the fourth round. Volynets converted six of seven break chances to break the match open.

Mandlik is the daughter of former tennis star Hana Mandlikova.

At Crandon Park, top-seeded American and No. 2 overall seed Govind Nanda retired in his third-round match against No. 17 seed Seon Yong Han of Korea after sustaining a lower-back injury.

Also on Key Biscayne, reigning USTA Boys’ 14U national champion and No. 9 seed Nathan Han advanced to the fourth round after defeating Daniel Sharygin of Illinois in a three-set thriller 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.
