Hot Button: Hurricanes in NCAA Tournament tops this week’s list

1. COLLEGE BASKETBALL

UM men win again, reach Sweet 16: Miami men’s team beat Wichita State in NCAA Tournament on Saturday to reach the Sweet 16 and will next face winner of Sunday’s Villanova-Iowa game. Angel Rodriguez led UM with 28 points. For Canes he was an Angel, heaven-sent.

2. HEAT

Latest visit by LeBron finds Miami in mad scramble: LeBron James (0-2 here since leaving) being back in Miami as he was Saturday is still a big deal, sort of. But here’s a bigger deal: Heat in a four-team scramble to finish third in East and avoid seeing LeBron again until the conference finals.

3. PANTHERS

Cats regain NHL division lead as Red Wings, actor Spacey visit: Florida had clawed back up into the division lead as Detroit visited Saturday. Panthers also were expecting a visit by actor Kevin Spacey, who inspires the “Spacey in Space” sweatshirts that inexplicably are part of the mojo of this Cats season.

4. TENNIS

Federer, Serena in Miami Open spotlight: Serena Williams and Roger Federer’s return from knee surgery top the marquee for Miami Open tennis, which begins its annual two-week run Wednesday in Key Biscayne. Event’s future is in doubt, so treat the present like a gift.

5. DOLPHINS

Mixed results continue free agency run: Bumper sticker: ‘Honk If You’ve Left the Dolphins Facility Without Signing a Contract.’ Running backs C.J. Anderson and Chris Johnson were the latest to do so.
