Greg Cote’s Thursday NFL pick: Jets over Bills

Line: NYJ by 3.

Rex Ryan just can’t help himself — the perfect, noisy kickoff to NFL Week 10. Ryan’s first return to the Meadowlands to face the Jets team that fired him after last season was going to be a spectacle no matter what, including Ryan’s prediction that Jets fans would be doing “one-fingered” waving at him. But Ryan had to amp it up further by naming linebacker IK Enemkpali as one of the Bills’ game captains for Thursday night — the player cut by the Jets in August after he punched and broke the jaw of quarterback Geno Smith. Miami’s defensive ineptitude made the Bills’ offense look great last week, but NYJ presents a far tougher test. That includes Darrelle Revis likely shadowing Sammy Watkins. Quick bonus fact: The Jets’ Ryan Fitzpatrick (Harvard), a former Bill with 136 career touchdown passes, needs two more to surpass Sid Luckman (Columbia) for the most ever by an Ivy League QB. Doubt if he’ll do it Thursday, though.
