Greg Cote’s Passer Ranking: Hot Tom Brady wins Week 3, grows season lead in Miami Herald quarterback rankings
New England’s red-hot Tom Brady scored a 52.90-point game last week to win the Week 3 title (his second in a row) and grow his overall season lead in the Miami Herald’s 18th season of Passer Success System (PASS) quarterback rankings. Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers vaults into second place. The Dolphins’ Ryan Tannehill falls five spots, to 13th overall. Our rankings are cumulative and use a simple formula unchanged since their inception in 1998, factoring accuracy, yardage, TD/interception ratio and team result. Most rating systems including the NFL’s and ESPN’s are complicated and percent based, allowing players who miss half a season to still win a title. Our rankings place a premium on consistently productive passers who avoid injury or benching. Watch for our updated Top 20 rankings in this space every Sunday.
